What We Do
Consideration is a Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We work on three fronts at once, because helping one family and changing the system are not separate problems.
- Support families — free education, referrals, and mentoring for parents representing themselves.
- Fund appeals — a trial ruling affects one family; an appellate ruling becomes law for every family after.
- Change the law — testimony and bill drafting at the Colorado Capitol, plus court watching that puts proceedings under public view.

Before the Colorado Supreme Court
An El Paso County case we funded is now before the state’s highest court, which will decide whether procedural failures led to a father improperly losing his children — and it comes against a backdrop of placement decisions by the county that left those children badly harmed.
Get Involved
Court watching requires no legal background and we will train you. Testimony from people who have lived through the system carries more weight at the Capitol than anything an organization can say. And most families find us because someone told them we exist.
