How We Help

Consideration is not a law firm and we do not represent people in court. What we do is help families understand what is happening to them and connect them with people who can help.

  • Understanding your case — walking through what the filings mean, what happens next, and what your options are
  • Referrals — attorneys, therapists, shelters, and other advocacy organizations
  • Pro se mentoring — guidance if you are representing yourself
  • Court accompaniment — a court watcher present at your hearing when we have volunteers available
  • Americans with Disabilities Advocacy
  • Case funding — in limited circumstances, for appeals with the potential to change law for other families

All of this is free.

What We Cannot Do

We want to be straight with you, because false hope wastes time you may not have:

  • We cannot represent you in court or give you legal advice
  • We cannot make a caseworker or judge do anything
  • We cannot fund every case — our resources are limited
  • We cannot promise an outcome
